The Georgia Southern Eagles fell to the University of Texas in Arlington with the final score standing at 81-49 in Arlington, Texas Thursday.

UTA started off the game with a strong 14-0 lead which helped them clinch the game at the end of the day. This conference win puts UTA in a good position to bounce further up in conference standings.

Junior guard Alexis Brown scored high with 18 points in the game and continued her streak of reaching double digits in this category. Brown was in the game for 33 minutes and scored eight rebounds, the highest amount out of any player.

The Eagles fell to the Mavericks only because they were not able to keep up with UTA. While scoring was consistent through every quarter (7-12-12-17), it simply did not match up to the amount of points UTA put on the scoreboard.

Junior forward Victoria Stravropoulos got some real playing time to contribute to her personal best and played in the game for 15 minutes. This junior was able to score four points during that time and five rebounds for the game. Stravropoulos was also able to make three defensive plays on rebounds in that time.

The huge 22 point lead at halftime really gave the Mavericks the advantage they needed to finish the game on top. UTA also finished the game at 55 percent on three-pointers, while GS only finished at around 21 percent.

The Eagles are set to play Texas State in San Marcos, Texas on Saturday at 2 p.m.
