The Eagles’ two-game win streak was snapped by University of Texas at Arlington after losing a well-built lead in a messy second half. Here are five take-aways from the game:

This is the first time the Eagles held a lead in the first half in Sun Belt play.

Despite the loss, this is the first time the Eagles came out strong on offense and held a 37-31 lead over the Mavericks in the first half. The Mavericks only held the lead for 8:29 minutes of the game while GS was able to hold onto the lead for the other 27:08 minutes.

GS was shooting 48.48 percent from the floor in the first half but fell to 40.63 percent for the second half- making their combined game average 44.6 percent.

The Eagles fell short on defense.

While they came out explosive on the offensive side in the first half, the Mavericks were able to put on the heat in the second half and the Eagles crumbled under the pressure. UTA was able to force 10 turnovers and gained 15 points from those turnovers.

The Mavericks also took advantage of their fast breaks, banking 11 points from them.

Tookie Brown continues to be a strong player to lead the Eagles

The senior guard from Madison, Georgia played a total of 37 minutes in the game and logged 11 total points, four rebounds, and forced one turnover.

Prior to the game Brown was honored for reaching 2,000 career points and currently now has 2,054 points under his belt.

The Eagles and the Mavericks both tied in rebounds.

Both teams logged 38 total rebounds, as well as having an even amount of offensive and defensive rebounds. Both teams had 11 defensive rebounds and 27 defensive rebounds.

After this loss the Eagles sit fifth in ranking in the Sun Belt conference.

The Eagles who now hold a conference record of 4-3 and an overall record of 12-8 sit fifth in the Sun Belt, right behind ULM. Texas State currently holds first in the Sun Belt.

The Eagles will be back in action at home as they take on the number one team in the conference, Texas State on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
