Georgia Southern Women’s Basketball is set to play Georgia State at Hanner Fieldhouse on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Eagles have just come off of a win against Texas State in San Marcos and they are ready to take on their in-state rivals. Even though it was a close game, with a final score of 65-55, GS was able to secure a win after a series of losses.

The Georgia State Panthers have a record of 10-9 for all games this season counting conference and non-conference play, while they stand at 4-4 within the Sun Belt. The Eagles now stand at 6-13, with their Sun Belt standing at 1-7.

In the Eagles’ last game freshman guard Jordan Strange, junior guard Alexis Brown and junior guard Amira Atwater were valuable players. Each of them reached individual game time over 35 and secured points for the team.

Strange will be one to watch this Saturday as her playing time and practice time have increased in the past few weeks. In the last game played she scored a total of nine points for the Eagles.

Brown will also be one to watch being that she scored 31 points for the Eagles in their last match-up an and her playing time has also been increasing every game.

Although the records and statistics for each time might show a gap, all fans and coaches know that rivalry games are a different story. Statistics go out the window and players are ready to claim a victory for their school and the state.
