Lady Eagles remain winless in conference play

GS softball still searching for their first Sun Belt victory of the season after loss to Troy

After Louisiana put together a dominant sweep of the Georgia Southern softball team, things continued on a downward spiral for the Lady Eagles.

Just four days after a late weekend series in Louisiana, GS was back in action against another conference opponent in the Troy Trojans.

On Friday, Troy quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning after an Anslee Finch single.

On the other hand, the Lady Eagles never found their footing on offense, resulting in just two hits and zero runs. Allyssah Mullis was the only Eagle to record a hit during the game.

The Trojans eventually walked away with a 6-0 series opening win.

The Eagles’ offensive woes continued on Saturday as Troy once again waltzed to a shutout victory. Bailee Wilson recorded two of the Eagles’ four hits, while Allyssah Mullis and Faith Shirley both recorded a hit as well.

The GS defense held their own for three innings, but a four-run outburst in the fourth was enough for the Trojans to clinch the series with a 4-0 win

Sunday saw more of the same for GS, as the Eagles were shut out for the third consecutive game. Troy clinched the sweep with a dominant 9-0 victory in a game that lasted just five innings.

GS found just three hits on offense and left five runners on base in an all-around disappointing performance.

The Lady Eagles now sit at 7-17 (0-8 SBC) on the season, which slots them at ninth in the Sun Belt standings.

GS will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Conway, SC to take on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. on Friday, followed by a double header set to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday. All three games will be televised on ESPN+.
