The 2018 All-Sun Belt teams were released Thursday with 12 Georgia Southern athletes being honored. Three Eagles were named to the first team, four players named to the second team, one to the third team and four Eagles named Honorable Mentions.

First team

Tyler Bass, kicker—Bass went 16-for-18 on field goals this season with one of the misses being from 57 yards. The redshirt-junior was named a Lou Groza award semifinalist and leads the Sun Belt in FG percentage.

Curtis Rainey, center—Rainey started 10 games for the Eagles this year and was on 667 offensive snaps. The senior has played more than 2,200 snaps in his career.

Kindle Vildor, cornerback—Vildor leads the conference in pass breakups with 11, passes defended with 15 and is tied for most interceptions in the Sun Belt with four. The junior had 39 tackles and an interception against No. 2 Clemson.

Second team

Monquavion Brinson, cornerback—Brinson has had 67 tackles and is second in the Sun Belt with 10 pass breakups. The junior had an interception against South Alabama that led to him being named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week.

Jeremiah Culbreth, offensive tackle—Culbreth is a four year starter and was in on a team-high 678 offensive snaps in 2018.

Wesley Fields, running back—Fields leads the team in both rushing and receiving yards with 951 and 237, respectively. The senior captain found the endzone 11 times and averaged 108 all-purpose yards per game.

Raymand Johnson III—Johnson leads GS with eight tackles for a loss and he also has 4.5 sacks. The true sophomore has three fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and a blocked PAT.

Third team

Logan Hunt, defensive end—Hunt leads the team with five sacks and 29 tackles. A second-team All-Sun Belt selection last season, the senior had a forced fumble against Troy.

Honorable mention

Rashard Byrd, linebacker—Byrd had 47 tackles, including five for a loss. The redshirt-sophomore had an interception against Clemson, recovered a fumble against Arkansas State and blocked a field goal against Georgia State.

Wesley Kennedy III, running back—Kennedy has rushed for 388 and three touchdowns this season. The sophomore averages 12 yards per catch and 98 all-purpose yards per game.

Ty Phillips, nose tackle—Phillips has 32 tackles, including three for a loss. The junior has 2.5 sacks and returned a fumble for 17 yards against South Carolina State.

Shai Werts, quarterback—Werts leads the conference in rushing touchdowns with 13 and also had 10 touchdowns through the air. The redshirt-sophomore rushed for 829 yards and thrown for 954. He is the only quarterback in the country to have not thrown an interception.
