Georgia Southern receives most-ever votes in AP Poll, ranks just shy of Top 25
October 28, 2018
Following their thrashing of No. 25 Appalachian State Thursday, many Georgia Southern fans and even various media members were looking for a number next to GS’ name come Sunday when the AP Poll was released. But it wasn’t there.
But for the third time in program history, there were votes for the Eagles to be ranked—62 to be exact. Only twice in conference history has a Sun Belt team been ranked in the top 25 with Troy being ranked No. 25 in 2016 and App State being ranked this past week.

There’s no official ranking from AP voters past 25, but the Eagles earned the 28th most votes.
While failing to crack the AP’s Top 25, GS made noise in other national polls.
The Eagles are ranked No. 24 in ESPN’s power rankings, earned 32 votes in the USA Today Coaches poll and are projected to be No. 23 in the CBS Sports poll.
