The Georgia Southern Men’s Golf team made their sixth appearance at the Autotrader Collegiate Classic in Duluth, GA this past week where they defended their 2017 title by winning the tournament again.

Senior Steven Fisk earned medalist honors and shot 66-66-69 for the tournament, with his total coming to 199. With these scores, Fisk broke the tournament record, GS record by six strokes and earned his fourth tournament win of the fall.

Fisk birdied three holes to shoot 33 on the front nine and added a birdie on hole 10 to move to four-under par.

GS beat the University of North Carolina at Greensboro by one stroke to cap the tournament and that did not come without a fight.

“I’m really proud of how this team held it together and earned a very hard-fought victory at the Autotrader,” said Coach Carter Collins. “This team has a lot of grind, and we needed every bit of it today to beat a very tough opponent.”

Another spotlight during the tournament was freshman Wilson Andress who shot 70-68-69, for a total of of 207, putting him nine under par. This put him as the freshman’s second top-10 for the tournament.

Andress shot 2-under on the back nine with birdies at 11, 12, and 15.

“We want to keep building to get to our unlimited goals and the spring will be a wonderful opportunity to do that,” said Collins. “We can’t wait to get back started.”

GS won two tournaments in their fall season and Fisk won all four they competed in.

The Eagles will open this spring with the GS Individual Collegiate at Georgia Southern University Course Feb. 4.
