The Eagles picked up two much-needed conference wins over the weekend, taking down Louisiana-Monroe, 60-55, before escaping Louisiana, 66-65.

Elijah McCadden starred for the Eagles against ULL, racking up a season-high 21 points. His performance was aided by Cam Bryant’s 16 points in his return.

Two late free throws by McCadden gave the Eagles a one-point lead that they would not relinquish in the 17 seconds of the half. McCadden scored the last nine points of the game for GS, essentially willing them to victory.

“I wouldn’t know exactly where to rank it,” McCadden said about the win. “Like you said, we’ve had a lot of wins, especially my freshman and sophomore years. It’s definitely probably a top-five win, especially coming in here against a good program on the road.”

The win marks the tenth of the season for the Eagles, who have won back-to-back conference games for just the second time during the Brian Burg era.

GS now sits at 10-9 (3-5 SBC) on the season, which slots them at No. 9 in the Sun Belt standings.

The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday as they host South Alabama, who currently sits in a tie for third in the Sun Belt standings. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised on ESPN+.
