Men’s and women’s tennis at Georgia Southern took big strides in their respective off-seasons, excelling in recruiting and strengthening their futures.

On the men’s side, three new players were added to the team, helping the Eagles to the #8 spot in mid-major recruitment. Antonio Muniz Hidalgo, of Spain, and Martijn Kerssens, of the Netherlands, joined the team, as did Miami Beach, Florida native Taylor Streda.

On the women’s side, the Eagles posted the #20 ranking out of mid-major teams and added recruits Luisa Hrda, of Germany; Elizabeth Goines, of Atlanta; and Hannah Daniel, of Watkinsville, Georgia.

Head Coach Sean McCaffrey spoke about what the recruiting class meant to him and the team.

“This new fall 2018 class of women will be great for us,” McCaffrey said. “We had only one scholarship to work, after losing our only senior, Ella Monsey, so I wanted to bring in some women that would both have an opportunity to develop and challenge the rest of the team. I think we have a good group of new Eagles coming in with Luisa, Elizabeth and Hannah. All of them have extensive competitive experience and will enhance the program.”
