Georgia Southern was granted approval for the demolition of University Villas, that have been not operational since Fall 2020, at the Board of Regents meeting in early February,

GS will be utilizing the space to “create a paved parking lot containing between 800 and 1,000 spaces with new curbs and gutters, landscaped islands, and emergency call boxes,” announced President Marrero in a recent email to students.

The demolition of the University Villas space will start after the Spring commencement ceremonies, confirmed by Jennifer Wise, Director of University Communications.

“The lot will be used for student parking, and may also provide additional parking for athletic events,” Wise said.

The project is expected to be completed in early Fall 2022.
