It may have been April fools, but this first Friday in April held more than just jokes.
An art festival was held downtown featuring all kinds of vendors.
Art was on display, as well as for sale, by local artists and the businesses that hosted them.
Under the theater lights, handcrafted bowls that came with a free scoop of chili with purchase were being sold.
Local musicians played for the crowds as they walked around downtown.
The event lasted from 5:30pm to 8:00pm, beginning on the courthouse lawn, but extending down main street.
Paintings were not the only merchandise being sold.
Things like jewelry, dog bandanas, honey, and candles were also spread throughout the courthouse lawn.
Statesboro locals walked tent to tent appreciating and buying art and other items from vendors.
New Covenant Church had people spinning a wheel to earn a prize and other vendors sold cross necklaces.
Barbecue sandwiches were being sold for $5 and being cooked on a grill parked near the clubhouse.
Even The Garage, a downtown gym, got in on the action and hosted art by students from South East Bulloch Middle School.
Unique art lined the streets. You never knew what you would see next.
Statesboro’s First Friday Downtown events should continue through the year. See you on May 6th!
