With the 2018 NCAA college football season on the horizon and the Sun Belt Media Day just mere days away, the Sun Belt preseason all-conference teams were named Thursday, featuring six Eagles.

Senior defensive lineman, Logan Hunt, and junior defensive back, Monquavion Brinson highlighted the first team selections, while senior running back, Wesley Fields, senior tight end, Ellis Richardson, senior offensive lineman, Curtis Rainey and junior kicker Tyler Bass, all made appearances on the second-team.

Hunt played a role in all 12 of the Eagles’ games in the 2017 campaign, racking up 11.0 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks, which led all Eagles in the respective categories.

Brinson returns for his senior season, anchoring a defensive backfield that struggled at times, but comes off a season where he recorded five interceptions and 34 tackles. He finished on the second team all-conference squad at the end of the 2017 season.

Fields looks to carry a bulk of the load for the Eagles in 2018, but is well equipped for the workload he will most likely receive. In 2017, the running back scored five touchdowns on 811 rushing yards.

Richardson caught nine passes for a total of 185 yards, and led the entire squad with three receiving touchdowns on the season.

Rainey was a stronghold on the offensive line in 2017, starting all 12 games, nine of which were at the center position. He looks to play an important role in the Eagles’ ground game in the upcoming season.

Bass returns as kicker, after missing only one PAT, and going 15-19 overall for the season. He made a season-long 48-yard field goal in a losing effort against rival Georgia State.
