Just a few weeks into the recruiting trail for the Georgia Southern football team, the Eagles have scored their first verbal commit in three-star running back Gerald Green who verbally committed via Twitter Saturday night.

Green plays for East Coweta High School in Sharpsburg, Georgia. In his junior season, the 5-10, 190-pound multidimensional back rushed for over 900 yards and 20 touchdowns, including three touchdowns on kickoff returns. Green is quick and is able to really hit the hole, which is what is going to make him great in the GS option offense.

In an article by Corky Kell, Green’s head coach John Small went on about Green’s explosiveness.

“(Green) packs a punch,” Small said. “He’s a guy that you look at, as a coach and think that every time he touches it, he has a chance.”

In his highlight tape, Green is very elusive and he’s able to pick up extra yards after contact. Green is also a guy that will be able to compete for a punt and/or kickoff return specialist.
