With soccer season right around the corner, both the men’s and women’s Eagles were in action for some tune-ups before the regular season officially begins.

The women took down Charleston Southern, 3-0, in their second and final scrimmage of the preseason. Smith Cathey, Kyleigh Drew and Bri Conley accounted for the Eagles’ goals, while Elis Nemtsov, Emma Armstrong, Karin Winka and Simone Timm recorded assists.

Defensively, GS only allowed eight shot attempts by the Buccaneers in comparison to the Eagles’ 19 shots. Katie Oakley and Michaela Mikko combined to pitch a shut out in goal.

The men played in two scrimmages on Sunday afternoon, finishing with back-to-back draws with both Georgia Southwestern and Winthrop. Stats were withheld from the Georgia Southern athletic website.

The men will participate in two more scrimmages on Friday when they take on Truett McConnell at 2 p.m. and North Georgia at 7 p.m. The regular season will begin on August 25, when the team travels to take on Presbyterian.

The women will begin their regular season on August 18, when they travel to Athens to take on Georgia.
