The True Blue 5k is an Event Benefiting The Abby Deloach Foundation We Give You An Inside Look

Haley Perini

During the month of September all of the fitness employees at the recreational activities center work together to make the true blue 5k possible. The many people around Georgia Southern gather for The True Blue 5k in honor of the car crash tragedy many years ago.

“ To see all the young students represent Abby, represent the future here at Georgia Southern has been very positive especially coming out of Covid. Seeing the next generation solve problems. Seeing the camaraderie and all the different organizations around the Boro and Southeast Georgia does an excellent job in supporting Georgia Southern. So we will beat Ball State tonight and stay out late and enjoy the night” said Jimmy Deloach (Abbie’s father)

Not only does the community come to support and run the 5k but so does Kappa Delta. A big group of the girls for the sorority come together every homecoming week to support and honor Abbie.

“What I love about the Fact as you can see right here is we have so many students that come out to the university and to support the Abbie Deloach foundation. It’s something everyone can look forward to every homecoming week. Getting up early in the morning and coming together. I think it says a lot for the students that do show up. I love that my chapter shows out and that it’s a great opportunity to meet Mr. Deloach, Abbie’s father, and how much he cares about the foundation and cares about our chapter. I think that’s my favorite thing about getting to be here every year”(Molly Manoel).

“Same thing as Molly. I’m just so happy with the turn out and I love getting up and it is such a beautiful day. Supporting our sister’s family and it’s an awesome event every year” (Isabelle Gardella).
