Fall exhibition games started for Georgia Southern baseball as they hosted South Georgia State in a doubleheader on Saturday. Georgia Southern won both games on Saturday afternoon. The final score to the first game was 14-2 in favor of the Eagles. Georgia Southern was able to turn 13 hits into 14 runs. A homer at the bottom of the first, by Noah Ledford started the onslaught for the Eagles in game one. I was able to catch up with him to get his thoughts on his first home run of the new year.

“It felt good, it was good to see a lot of good quality at bats after that too,” said Noah Ledford.

This was the first of only a couple of fall exhibition games for the Eagles. The baseball team is looking to use the fall to get prepared for the spring season. Coach Hennon had something to say about the Eagles’ first outing.

“We did a good job of executing when we got runners on base with less than two outs. I think we had two sac flies in the game. So, a pretty solid start” said Hennon.

The Eagles followed up on a dominant game one with a close game two. The final score of game two was 8-7 with the Eagles sneaking away with the victory.

The next exhibition game for the Eagles will be on Oct. 22nd against the University of South Carolina Upstate at J.I. Clements stadium. All exhibition games are free to attend.
