Game Preview: Eagles look to build on momentum in Virginia

History: Georgia Southern is 2-0 all-time against Old Dominion, with the wins coming during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

Last Week: The Eagles upset No. 25 James Madison on Saturday, 45-38.

Kyle Vantrease threw for a school-record 578 yards, while three different Eagle receivers eclipsed the 100-yard mark. Defensively, GS forced four crucial turnovers, including a game-clinching interception by Anthony Wilson.

Scouting Report: Offensively, things have been somewhat of a struggle for the Monarchs. ODU barely ranks within the top-100 of the FBS in total yards per game with just 356. However, things are looking up after a 28-point victory over previously undefeated Coastal Carolina.

Wide receiver Ali Jennings has established himself as one of the premiere wideouts in all of college football. Through six games, the West Virginia transfer has racked up 775 yards and seven touchdowns.

On the defensive side of things, it has been even more tough sledding for ODU. The Monarchs rank No. 118 in total defense despite forcing 13 turnovers, good enough for No. 13 in the country.

Bottom Line: The Eagles need this win. GS has not won on the road since taking down Nebraska in week two.

If Clay Helton can keep his team down to earth following last week’s stunning victory, the Eagles have a chance to get things rolling heading into the home stretch of conference play.

Prediction: Eagles cruise to 47-26 victory
