Georgia Southern Men’s Basketball Beats Rival Panthers In Close Home Game

Georgia Southern men’s basketball manages to grab a close 6-point over Georgia State after taking a 13-point loss to University of Louisiana Monroe making GS 1-9 over and 5-3 in the Sun Belt.

What happened: GS held State to two allowed scores during their first 20 shots of the first half of the game, the Panthers finished the first half 5 out of 26 and trailed by 20 at the end of the half.

Player stats:

  • Finch shot 6 of 11 from the field and added three rebounds, two assists and a steal
  •  Andrei Savrasov collected 13 points and six rebounds.
  • Tyren Moore tallied 10 points, three steals and two assists,
  • Kamari Brown registered seven points and seven rebounds. 

The Saturday win broke a 3- game losing streak to State since 2018.

ULM broke their five-game losing skid against the Eagles and gained their first win in Hanner since 2018.

  • After leading 35-25 at halftime, ULM outscored Georgia Southern 11-3 over the first 4:18 of the second stanza, and a Langston Powell triple extended the margin to 46-28. 
  • The lead never dipped below 14 the rest of the contest.

The Eagles open a four game road trip at Texas State next Thursday. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET, and the contest will air live on ESPN+ and the GS Sports Network.
