Statesboro’s Youth Theater will perform a steampunk and bohemia version of Shakespeare’s The Tempest from Thursday to Sunday.

The showing for Thursday through Saturday will begin at 7:30 p.m. while the final showing on Sunday will begin at 3 p.m.

Founded in 2004, the Statesboro Youth Theater is a fine arts performance program that provides performing arts opportunities for the children and teenagers in the Statesboro community.

To perform in the mature and complex play the young performers worked to understand the language of Shakespeare, the storylines throughout the piece, and where their character specifically fits into the story.

“I have been really fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such a talented and dedicated cast of young people,” Tempest Director Ashely Morgan said. “These students have been excited and committed to the process since day one. Each one brings something unique to the table, as they vary greatly in age and experience level.”

Tickets will be $10 for members, $12 for non-members and $8 for youth.

Visit the Averitt Center website to purchase tickets online or call the center at 912-212-2787.
