 Georgia Southern Women’s basketball fell to Louisiana in a 10-point game and lost to Troy by 23 points on a road game, their record is now, (13-6, 5-5 SBC)

 GS WBB was held to no scoring 5 minutes during the fourth quarter to help secure Louisiana’s win.

  • The first quarter was a close start as GS led by one, 14-13, at the end of the period. The Ragin’ Cajuns opened the second quarter with a 10-0 run outscoring the Eagles by 17, the score was 41-25 at halftime. 
  • Game stats: 
  • Terren Ward– 15 pts, 10 rebounds, this was Ward’s seventh double-double this season
  • Simone James – 11 pts
  • Taya Gibson(Eagle of the Game)- 9 pts, 8 rebounds ( 6 offensive) 

GS WBB six game road win streak came to an end after facing off against Troy this past Saturday

  • The first half of the game ended 14-1 with Troy leading before Taya Gibson scored the Eagles their first 9 points and the lead was down to 2, 23-21.

Game stats:

  • Taya Gibson: 21 pts, 16 rebounds, this was Gibsons 3rd career double double.
  • Le’Andrea Gillis: 20 pts, season high 
  • “We didn’t come to play today. And you can’t do that when you’re playing against the No. 1 team in the Sun Belt. Try did what we thought they would do. They pushed the tempo and were phenomenal rebounding the ball. I thought we started strong, but we just couldn’t maintain it, “ said Anita Howard.

GS returns to Hanner on Thursday Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. for their White Out game against Georgia State.
