Georgia Southern bounce back in final game to avoid being swept in ODU series

Georgia won against Old Dominion on a mercy rule after 7 innings
Game Summary: In the first game against ODU, Georgia Southern scored first off a Noah Ledford single to left field with runners at first and second. Old Dominion would hit 2 home runs and be up 4-1 until the bottom of the 5th. Jarrett Brown hit a home run bringing Southern to within 2 runs. A 3 RBI home run by ODU in the 6th inning would put them up by 4 runs. Georgia Southern would fight back scoring runs in the bottom of the 6th, and a JP Tighe home run in the 8th but ultimately lose 7-5.

Game Summary: The second game against Old dominion didn’t swing the Eagles favor. ODU were first to score on a double in the top of the 2nd. They also added a home run bringing in 3 runs. The top of the 3rd was more of the same as the bases were loaded for ODU after a series of walks and a wild pitch. A double down the right field line brought in all the runners making the score 7-0. Jarrertt Brown hit a homer to right center in the bottom of the 3rd to put Southern on board. After scoring 2 more runs in the top of the 4th, Georgia Southern respond with 3 runs of their own in bottom of the 4th. The Eagles would score 1 more run in the 5th inning and ODU would respond the very next inning with 2 runs of their own. The game would eventually end in a Georgia Southern loss 12-7.

Game Summary: The last game against ODU saw Georgia Southern in control the entire way. Corey Dowdell started the day off with a 3 RBI home run to left center. In the 2nd inning Jessie Sherrill would single to right field bringing in a run, and then a Noah Ledford homer to center field would bring another 3 runs. In the 8th inning the Eagles would put up a total of 8 runs bringing the score to 15-0. A sacrifice fly in the bottom of 7th inning would complete the mercy rule game and Southern would win 16-0.
