Eagles win second straight Sun Belt series win against Georgia State

The split secured a second straight SunBelt series win for the Eagles (16-22, 6-9 SBC) as Georgia Southern has now won five of its last six in league play. Georgia State moves to 16-27 overall and 5-10 with the split. 

 

GAME ONE: Georgia State 6, Georgia Southern 3: 

  • A solo home run by Maia Mumpfield put Georgia State in front in the second inning. The Eagles scored twice in the third, on RBI singles from Courtney Ball and Faith Barth, to take a 2-1 advantage.

GAME TWO: Georgia Southern 14, Georgia State 3 (5 inn.)

  • The Eagles return to action on Wednesday, hosting Mercer for a midweek doubleheader in Statesboro beginning at 4 p.m.
  • Janai Conklin and Dejah Mills collected back-to-back RBI doubles in the top of the first to stake the Eagles to a quick 2-0 lead. The lead grew to five runs in the top of the second on an RBI single by Courtney Ball and a two-run double by Emma Davis.
