Georgia Southern close out series against App state in Double header win

They improve to 18-18,(8-7) on the season  


Game Summary In the first game against App state the Eagles found themselves down by 4 runs to start the bottom of the 1st. A Jarrett Brown double brought in one run to cut the deficit to 3. An App State home run in the top of the 5th would bring the score to 7-1.  The Eagles would lose the first game 10-7.

  • Jarrett Brown went 1-4 bringing in 2 RBI

Game Summary The first game of the double header saw Georgia Southern jump to an early lead. JP Tighe tripled in the bottom of the 2nd bringing a runner from 1st base. Jay Tompson would hold off App State in the top of the 9th to secure the win for the Eagles.

  • JP Tighe went 2-2 with 2 RBIs and a homerun
  • Jarrett Brown and Corey Dowdell both hit home runs 
  • Mitchell Gross and Ben Johnson combined for 12 strikeouts 


Game Summary The final game of the double header Georgia Southern dominated early. In the bottom of the first Jarrett Brown had a sacrificed fly bring in a runner on third base for the first runs of the game. In the bottom of the 5th Georgia Southern scored 9 runs extending their lead to 12. App state would score 1 run in the top of the 6th before Southern added another 5 runs to their lead making it 19-3. App state scored 2 more times before being mercy ruled. The game only went 7 innings.
