The Shooting Sports and Education Center is hosting Firearms Date Night on Friday for couples interested in learning firearm safety and more. 

The event will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and welcomes all skill levels but specifies that the event is designed for beginners.

Couples will be provided with equipment and learn how to safely handle a firearm then afterwards have the opportunity to shoot on the range.

Skills that will be taught at the date night include:

• Firearm Safety
• Safe handling techniques
• Loading and unloading
• Proper stance and grip
• Sight alignment and sight picture
• How to fix malfunctions

The event is open to GS students, as well as the general public, for all ages 18 and up. Cost for the public will be $75 per couple. Cost for student couples will be $65.

Deadline for registration is 24 hours in advance of the event. Only four couples will be allowed at each date night, early registration is encouraged.

Future Firearm Safety Date nights will be on April 27 and May 11.
