After being up 2 early on in the set they were down 20-23. The women railed to tie the game 23-23 before scoring 3 straight, excluding a service error, winning 26-24. GSU opened the final set scoring 7 straight points before East Carolina earned a point. They dominated this set winning 25-13. The next set started out with UNCG leading very early on before Southern took the lead and didn’t let go. It was a close set as GSU’s largest lead was 4 down the stretch. They would eventually win the set 25-23. The last set was a defensive clinic with UNCG only scoring 9 points. The Lady Eagles coasted to a 25-9 win ending the weekend opener 2-0.
