After an impressive comeback and win against Detroit Mercy, now 13-6 Georgia Southern will take on the Troy University Trojans.

Troy University (13-6)

With a current high winning streak of five and having the same record as the Eagles, both will compete for their first conference win when they face each other.

The Trojans have a team batting average of .262 and an impressive 125 hits for the total season, along with 83 runs off those hits.

Leading the Trojans is Logan Calhoun, with a batting average of .344 and being hot on the bats with 21 hits and 18 runs so far for the season. Following Calhoun is Katie Webb with an impressive 19 hits, seven runs, and three homeruns, with a .322 batting average.

While pitching lineups haven’t been announced for the game, junior pitcher Peyton Glover has looked good so far this season- throwing a total of 42 strikeouts, and only allowing 38 hits all season.

Another pitcher the Eagles will need to watch out for is freshman Annie Willis who has made quite the impression on the Trojans with 32 strikeouts in the seven games she’s pitched and only 18 hits allowed inside those games.

Georgia Southern (13-6)

With a win streak of three, the Eagles are ready and hungry to continue that streak and seal their first Sun Belt win of the season.

The Eagles have had a very successful season so far this year, logging 151 hits and 79 runs off those hits and having a team batting average of .287.

Leading the Eagles with an impressive season so far is senior Alesha Mann, who’s batting an average .345, slugged 20 hits this season- four of those being home runs- and has been able to round home plate 10 times for GS.

Following Mann is junior Hannah Farell, who as of recently has emerged to be a huge contributor for the Eagles with a batting average of .322, 19 hits, 12 runs, and four home runs.

The Eagles have also not announced any pitching lineups for the game, but it’s safe to assume we’ll see a little mound action from senior Kierra Camp. Camp has had a beyond impressive season so far, throwing 41 strikeouts and only allowing 51 hits in the 12 games she’s pitched.

Following behind Camp is freshman Rylee Waldrep who came in the previous game against Detroit Mercy and was able to eliminate the threat of the Titans by only allowing one run on five hits and throwing four strikeouts.

Overall, Waldrep has thrown 27 strikeouts in the eight games she’s pitched, and only allowed 16 runs in those games.

Due to predicted weather, the Eagles will be playing two games Friday, March 9 at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and one game Saturday, March 10 at 1:00 p.m. in Troy, Alabama.
