The Georgia Southern men’s basketball team dropped a road contest against conference foe UT-Arlington on Thursday by 20 points. The loss closes the gap between the Eagles and the Mavericks for third place in conference standings to just one game.

While going into halftime trailing by just 4, the Eagles just could not seem to get anything going for them in the second half, where they shot an abysmal 12-42 from the floor.

Struggling to put up points, GS posted a very low 33 percent field goal percentage throughout the entire course of the game, and simply struggled to contain defensively the hot handed Mavericks, led by leading scorer Kaelon Wilson, who had 23 points.

The Eagles’ leading scorers however, junior Montae Glenn and sophomore David-Lee Jones Jr., only had 12 points a piece.

As the 2017-2018 season is quickly coming to a close, the Eagles hope to hold their spot in the Sun Belt Standings before heading to the conference tournament that tips off beginning on March 7th.

GS looks to regain momentum and collect a much needed conference win on Saturday, where they will face a struggling Texas State team, who has lost each of their last 7 games.

Tip off for the road game against the Bobcats on Saturday is set for 5:30 p.m.
