As Georgia Southern students, it is nice to see options other than our usual McDonald’s or Chic-Fil-A come to our small town. We celebrate the increase in restaurant choices around Statesboro. New restaurants help our local economy go around.

What’s new: Jim ‘N Nick’s will be the first of 6 new food joints coming to Statesboro this year. Scheduled to open next Wednesday according to Grice Connect. The restaurant will consist of  drive-through, pick-up, and dine-in.

• The menu ranges from pulled pork, chicken tenders to burgers and catfish plates. The new Jim ‘N Nick’s restaurant will be the third in our area. The other two locations are in Bluffton, S.C., and Pooler, GA.

What’s next: Later in the year, you can expect to see:

• Texas Roadhouse– Steakhouse with the usual shrimp, ribs, burgers and chicken choices.

• Slim Chickens– Tenders, salads, wraps, sandwiches and waffles.

• Sully’s Steamers– Bagel sandwiches.

• Huey Magoo’s– Tenders, sandwiches and salads.

• Five Guys– Burgers, hotdogs and milkshakes.
