Georgia Southern sent their seniors off in fashion after their win against Old Dominion Friday night, going 20-20 from the Free Throw Line.
Eagles honored senior players Malik Tidwell and Johnny McFatten before their match.
Tyren Moore set the tempo for GS early on hitting three three-pointers with still more than half of the quarter to go. The Eagles kept the lead for the whole first half with points from Jamar Franklin and Moore to put them up by 15 points at half time.
Moore scored 23 points in the first half alone.
Keeping their energy high in the second half, OD never brought the game closer than ten points. Nate Bradford helped to give his team a 19 point lead at the start of the 2nd. Avantae Parker would give the team their 2nd biggest lead of the season putting them up by 20 with 5 minutes left in the game. The Eagles beat OD by 17 points, 92-75.
Moore finished out with 32 points and is the first Eagle since Elton Nesbitt in 2005 to have four or more 30-point games in a season.
GS shot a perfect 20-20 from the Free throw line breaking the previous school record of 13-13 from 2013.
“It’s always good to head into the conference tournament with a little momentum,” Moore said. “We’ve got to get back to the drawing board and start working. All the guys in this locker room still believe we can go down there and do something special.”
Georgia Southern has secured the ninth seed in the conference tournament and will play its first game on Thursday.
