Musical to open on Armstrong campus
February 26, 2018
“The Spitfire Grill” will open at the Jenkins Hall Mainstage Theatre at the Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus on Feb. 28 and will run through March 4.
“The Spitfire Grill” is the story of a fiesty parolee Percy, who is looking for a fresh start in the town of Gilead, Wisconsin. She lands a job at a eatery called ‘Hannah’s Spitfire Grill’ at the same time that the eatery is up for sell.
Percy suggests that the shop owner raffles the eatery off, since their are no prospective buyers. The new owner will be chosen through an essay contest where applicants write an essay on why they should own the restaurant. Soon Percy and the store owner receive a flood of essays.
“The Spitfire Grill” is directed by Associate Professor of the Theatre, Pamela Sears and local musical director Warren Heilman. Students from the university will play the role of the cast in the theatrical performance.
“This is a show for everyone, whether you are eight or 80 years old,” Sears said. “Audiences will enjoy the humorous character idiosyncrasies and energetic musical score.”
The show is hosted by the Department of Communication Arts in the College of Arts and Humanities.
