In an effort to equip students with essential time management skills, the Academic Success Center at the Henderson Library recently hosted the highly anticipated “Take Control of Your Time” workshop. The event garnered significant interest from students seeking to enhance their productivity and efficiency in academic and personal pursuits.
Led by Sarah Varnadoe, the workshop provided attendees with practical strategies and tools to optimize their daily schedules and achieve a better work-life balance. From prioritization techniques to effective goal-setting methods, participants were immersed in a comprehensive curriculum designed to unlock their full potential.
“So, today’s workshop was a workshop on time management, focusing on procrastination, and organization. It’s one of the workshops that we do as a part of our series, here in person on campus, and we provide a variety of workshops to students on different topics,” stated Sarah Varnadoe, the workshop facilitator and faculty member at GSU.
Throughout the session, students actively engaged in interactive exercises and discussions, sharing their own challenges, and learning from their peers’ experiences. Topics ranged from overcoming procrastination to establishing healthy routines, resonating with attendees facing common struggles in time management.
Attendees also received valuable resources and recommendations for further exploration, including recommended apps and online tools tailored to streamline tasks and boost efficiency. Varnadoe also stated, “That is going to help them with academic success, and at the academic success center we do these workshops. We also do consultations, and we work with tutoring and success coaching, and a variety of different opportunities for students.”
The success of the “Take Control of Your Time” workshop underscores the importance of proactive initiatives aimed at enhancing student success and well-being. With its emphasis on practical strategies and collaborative learning, the event exemplified Georgia Southern’s dedication to fostering a culture of academic excellence and personal growth among its student body.
