The Eagles opened the series with a 10-6 win on Friday night.
Game 1: 10-6
- JD Kaiser put the Eagles on the board at the bottom of he first inning followed by Jarrett Brown to take a 2-0 lead early on.
- Georgia State got on the board after a home run but the Eagles answered back and ran the score up 7-1 by the and of the 4th inning
- Ben Johnson struck out the final pinch hitter for the Panthers to close the book on game one and seal the 10-6 victory for Southern.
Game 2: 5-4
- Unlike game 1, the Panthers started the scoring off with a home run in the 2nd inning. Kaiser tied the score with a single RBI.
- State scored twice with two “unearned runs” in both the 3rd and 4th inning.
- Kent Schmidt led the Eagles offensively with a 2-for-5 night, scoring a run. Tate, Blancato, Kaiser, Jaime, Haab, Odden, and Jenkins all ended the night with a hit.
Game 3: 9-7
- State took the lead in the beginning but the Eagles took the lead 4-1 after Kaiser and Sean White boh walked with loaded bases.
- State responded in the top of the third with a four-run inning of its own, starting with a solo home run.
- The Eagles took the whole series 3-0, and are now 18-14, 8-4 SBC.
Georgia Southern heads to Atlanta to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, April 9. Action from Russ Chandler Stadium is set to begin at 6 p.m.
