Georgia Southern’s campus welcome’s the largest freshman class for the 2024 fall semester with an annual tradition in Paulson Stadium.
First flight is conducted by the faculty and staff every year before the first day of classes to show incoming freshman football traditions.
The freshmen were met at the gate with free white Georgia Southern t-shirts that allowed them to later participate in festivities. Trishell Kamani taught new students chants for the football games and introduced staff.
Head football coach Clay Helton asked students to show their support for the school by attending upcoming games.
Soar leaders introduced themselves and gave quick tricks and tips for freshmen to survive the school year.
The band played a series of stand tunes to bring energy for the event.
“I learned what it was all really about it was really fun, it was nice to come out and support the freshman you know that’s like that’s my class so I like to hype them up, and it was just a fun time,” said Southern Pride freshman Hayden Crescionie.
The Office of Student Activities displayed a laser show with Georgia Southern logos and a variety of music.
Keeping up with one of the most popular traditions, our very own American eagle launches high above the field in front of thousands of fans, called freedom’s flight.
The night concluded with fireworks to begin the new school year off with a bang.
This event was a great opportunity for students to learn traditions and become a part of eagle nation.
