Paulson Stadium was sold out this past Saturday for Georgia Southern’s season opener against Boise State. Despite GS taking their first loss of the season, fans packed out Paulson to support their Eagles.
The Boise State Broncos slipped past GS Saturday, 56-45. This was both teams’ first time facing off against each other.
Even with a high of 94 degrees students, locals and fans if both teams had GS home field full and sold out. Sitting in the student section would almost make you forget how hot it was with all the excitement around.
Specifically sitting behind the students who seemed to be the Eagles biggest supporters as they wore matching gear from jerseys to polos to stripping overalls. These students would also stand for majority of the and kept the crowd excited with their no matter how the game was going.
The Broncos started with a 14-0 lead in the first quarter which the Eagles would cut into with their first touchdown from Jalen White followed by a field goal from Gavin Stewart. By half time the Eagles were down 28-16 but managed to take the lead going into the 3rd, 30-28.
As the game wined down students and fan began to leave but the group of 17-20
GS students stayed the whole way through to support.
GS kept the small lead after another touchdown but Boise St. quickly took the lead back two back to back touchdowns. GS got in 1 more touchdown before the end but Boise still pulled through with the win, 56-45.
Georgia Southern will play against Nevada on Saturday, September 7 at 7pm. They will play again at home for Family weekend against South Carolina State at 6pm.
