Galactic Comics & Games has been a staple of downtown Statesboro since its inception. The two-story shop has been home to all things comics, manga, board games, and more since its opening in January 2006.
While rock music plays at a dull roar in the background, the store is a labyrinth of comic books with trinkets and collectables in every corner. The farther you go in, the more the books shift from superheroes to anime protagonists and then into board games and Warhammer 40k.
Up a few stairs and you’re in the game room. The ceilings are high and tables are filled with players focused on their card games, while empty tables are waiting for tabletop roleplaying and war games to begin.
“The store has been a great haven for lots of people,” Galactic Comics & Games Owner Keith Brown said. He emphasized that college students can find their niche community at Galactic Comics.
Brown invites any interested community members to participate in Board Game Night at the shop every Friday from 6 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. There is no experience required to attend.
