Georgia Southern University will collaborate with its Armstrong State campus to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy in Savannah’s MLK Day parade on Monday morning.

In recent years, the GS campus has stayed close to home with its MLK Day service activities.

Due to the recent consolidation with ASU, over 300 participators will attend the parade and festivities to represent GS and build connections among the student body, said Takeshia Brown, director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs.

The Office of Multicultural Affairs will send out email regarding the location. For self-driving participants, the meeting point is East Broad Elementary School. Participants must not arrive any later than 8:45 a.m.

Brown said the event is pertinent in order for GS to have a presence in the community, and to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
