This past week, many student organizations at Georgia Southern competed in the Doo-Dah Dance and Step Show at the Hanner Fieldhouse.
The Doo-Dah Dance and Step Show is a Georgia Southern homecoming tradition where students choreograph a dance to compete with other students.
The theme for this year’s homecoming was “Sweet Southern”, and each dance had to be about this theme.
There are three categories: doo-dah, dance, and step.
For the doo-dah category, Chi Omega came in first, Alpha Omicron Pi and Alpha Delta Pi tied for second, and Phi Mu came in third.
“It was surreal, like knowing that we were gonna win,” Co-Captain of Chi Omega Ryleigh Baker said. “And I’m just so proud of all the girls on our team. I’m so happy that they also got this win with us.”
The event also included music by DJ Nino, glowsticks, appearances from the candidates for Homecoming Court, and lots of more fun.
The Office of Student Activities worked very hard at making this event entertaining for both students and faculty.
“It’s a big tradition just because it is a campus community variety show,” OSA Director Memory Littles said. “So you don’t just see one type of performance.”
In the dance category, Dyverzion Dance Team placed first, and the K-Pop Culture and Appreciation Organization placed second.
For the step show, Alpha Phi Alpha came in first place.
