Deciding which dish to bring to Friendsgiving can be tough, especially if you’re on the lazy side or simply don’t have the time to hand-prepare an entire stuffed turkey or apple pie.
If you want to bring something everyone will love, but don’t want to buy a ton of ingredients and take the time to make something, check out these five unique items you can purchase from a grocery store that will be much-enjoyed at the table!
Pumpkin Hummus
It may sound strange to make this usually savory item sweet, but trust me when I say it will be a favorite. You can purchase pumpkin hummus at most grocery stores during the fall season. Kroger currently has some for $4.49.
Charcuterie Board
This French-born dish had its 15 minutes of fame last year, but still remains a delicious and popular item to bring to social events. Typically included in a charcuterie board are various cold meats, cheeses, fruits and crackers. Pre-made platters are available at Walmart for just under $14.
(The pumpkin hummus would be a great dip to go with the crackers!)
Butternut Squash Soup
Who doesn’t love a warm, cozy soup? This would make a great side dish to any main course. This can be found at most grocery stores for a cheap price. I personally recommend Panera’s pre-made butternut squash soup.
Potatoes au Gratin
Another easy dish that many will love! You can buy a boxed mix of this at any grocery store and take a few easy steps to bake it in your oven at home. Walmart has boxed potatoes au gratin at just above $1.
Thanksgiving Salad
If you’re looking to add some greens to the menu, try out a Thanksgiving salad. This can be made using Taylor Farm’s Kale Pecan Cranberry or Apple Feta salad mixes. These pre-mixed salads have tons of fall flavors and will go great with turkey or ham.
