On Tuesday, the Office of Student Activities hosted a Cozy Crafting Night, complete with free throw blankets and s’mores.
Students could choose from a variety of blanket patterns including penguins, cabins and cupcakes. By following the provided instructions in each blanket kit, students could make fleece tie blankets perfect for staying warm during the holiday season.
“I like sweets, so this one spoke to me,” said senior communication sciences and disorders major Ta’Kayla Wright, who chose the cupcake pattern.
She was happy to attend the event. “I haven’t been able to attend a lot of the events on Tuesday since I have an afternoon class, so being able to come to this one is actually pretty cool.”
Juliana Villafane, a freshman nursing major, enjoyed the blanket-making event. She chose to make the cabin print because “it’s perfect for camping.”
She said she had prior experience crafting blankets through her past work at an animal shelter.
“We would make little ones for the puppies and stuff. I’m kind of a pro,” she said.
Wright and Villafane are two of the dozens of students who stopped by in time for free s’mores, crafting and connection.
