GS alumna and country music singer to perform at the Averitt Center
January 29, 2018
Georgia Southern University alumna and country music singer, Elizabeth Cook will perform at the Averitt’s Emma Kelly Theater Feb. 1.
Cook graduated from GS in 1996 with dual degrees in accounting and computer information systems, but after a lunch break interview turned into an on-spot publishing deal.
Cook went on to release her first album, “The Blue Album” in 2000 and soon became a major label debut for Atlantic Records.
In 2016, Cook performed with members of the GSU band on the David Letterman Show.
Opening Cook’s solo performance will be special guest country singer Darrin Bradbury. She will then be performing songs from her new album “Exodus of Venus”, her first album in six years.
The Averitt’s Emma Kelly Theater hopes that having the GS alumna will bring in more of the campus crowd, said Rahun Hutcheson, Averitt Center development director.
The performance starts 7:30 p.m. and is expected to last until 9:00 p.m.
Tickets for the event will be $20 for traditional seating and $22 for box seats.
