Shooting Sports Education Center to host campus carry course

The Shooting Sports Education Center is set to host a campus carry course on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the RAC’s firing range.
The class will last from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will be led by DJ Hoessle, assistant director of shooting sports.
Only eight positions are open for the class, two of which have been filled.
The registration deadline is Jan. 25. Cost for the class is $100 for students and $125 for non-students.
The course will cover several topics:
- Developing a personal protection plan
- Understanding conflict avoidance and situational awareness
- The legal aspects of using deadly force (including knowing what to do in the aftermath)
- Understanding how to use firearm gears and gadgets
All materials, including firearms and ammunition, will be provided.
The next eight-hour class will be Feb. 24, and three separate three-hour classes will be held on March 15, 22 and 29.
