Georgia Southern Eagles took on Marshall’s basketball team this past Saturday. Georgia Southern had a classic showdown against Marshall’s basketball resulting in an intense face-off.
Tip off started at 3 p.m., and Georgia Southern came out swinging with a 3-pointer on the board. Many students and fans crowded the stands and cheered on the Eagles as they led the first half.
There were many snacks, drinks, and more to pickup during the game at the concession stands. Alumni, friends and family came out and showed their support for the Eagles.
“Coming into the Convocation Center has been really fun. I feel like the games have been like much more high level of competition,” said Georgia Southern student Kayden Johnson. “Marshall’s playing good, Georgia Southern is playing good. It’s just a good back and forth game. Everyone’s hitting the three’s and people are just standing up to defeat. It’s just a upgraded level of atmosphere and energy.”
The halftime show was filled with many games, alumni basketball players, NIL donors and dancing. Coming into the second half, students were electrified by the ongoing battle between the teams. With just three minutes left, Marshall led in scoring.
After a intense game, Marshall won 71-67, causing an end to a 3 game winning streak for the Georgia Southern basketball team.
