Huey’s on Main Street, the newest addition to downtown Statesboro, opened last Friday, bringing its signature New Orleans-style cuisine to the city.
The new restaurant is not the first Huey’s in Georgia. The original restaurant, Huey’s on the River, is located on Savannah’s historic River Street, and has been serving customers since 1987. The restaurant in Statesboro sells NOLA-inspired food, including po’boys, jambalayas, and specifically its world-famous beignets, which are deep-fried pastries covered in powdered sugar. The new building has been completely renovated from the ground up, according to Grice Connect.
Greg Crawford, the general manager of Huey’s on Main Street, says, “We want everybody to come in and enjoy themselves and enjoy the excellent food and exceptional customer service that we’re gonna provide.”
Huey’s customer Curtis Woody shared his first impression,“I think, as this place continues to serve the public it’s going to find its own niche,” he said. “But I like the decor, you know, it’s reminiscent of New Orleans and the sea.”
Down the road, Crawford hopes to bring entertainment, such as live music, to guests, but for right now they are focused on providing the best customer service possible.
To those interested in a job at Huey’s, Crawford explained the restaurant is hiring for all positions and anyone interested can come by during the week.Interviews will take place from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
“We’re just excited to be here in Statesboro, and we’re welcome everybody to come out and try us,” Crawford said.
Huey’s on Main is open seven days a week from 4 – 10 p.m. and located in the Quality Inn at 232 South Main St.
