The annual Arts Fest was at Sweetheart Circle on Saturday. This event was established by Georgia Southern’s Art department in the early 1980s. Arts Fest has sparked creativity across generations. Even though the university stepped back from hosting it in 2016, the Bulloch County Recreation and Parks Department, with lots of community support, has kept the tradition alive.
“I made medieval armor for many years and I decided when I retired from the military that I wanted to do something more,” said Mike Elin.
With over 35 art stops scattered around Sweetheart Circle, there’s truly something for everyone, the community was able to mold clay, paint portraits, design masks, experiment with watercolors and much more. Local business owners also got to set up shop for this event.
“I love to craft with my hands and I wanted to incorporate something that was blingy, you know, because I like sparkle. I found what I like and that’s what I do,” said Rebecca Butcher.
Whether you’re a kid, parent, artist or someone looking for inspiration, the Arts Fest was the place to be.
