Cookies, cakes, marshmallow treats, you name it; The Sweet Impact does it all. For the last six years, Robert Lucas, owner and entrepreneur, has remained dedicated to baking delicious sweets for Statesboro. Lucas, a Georgia Southern alum, built Sweet Impact from the ground up, transforming what was once a small channel on YouTube into a staple of the community.

The Sweet Impact has been in Statesboro for about a year and a half, and for Lucas, it’s a dream come true. “I hadn’t seen a place like this before [in Statesboro],” he explained. “Obviously, there’s cookie places and stuff, but nothing that really did… everything.”

What makes Sweet Impact unique is its diverse selection of treats. It has a wide variety of delicacies and flavors that are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. The atmosphere of the building is also incredibly comfortable. Energetic songs are playing in the background, several unique pictures cascade across the walls, and neon lights add splashes of color to the environment.

Lucas described how fulfilling his work is by saying, “Kids will recognize me from YouTube, which is always fun to talk about!” He’s a bit of a local legend, his channel having garnered over 3.5 million subscribers. His plaques even hang neatly on the wall behind the register. Not to mention, Lucas has competed in a couple of baking shows to display his gift. It all started at Georgia Southern, where he majored in IT, and one day, he “decided to make cakes, I made the very first one in 2019,” he stated. “I got known on YouTube and TikTok–for my videos. I decided to make a store.”

Now, while there are an abundance of options to choose from, Lucas has noticed his customers especially love this dish: “People really like the cheese cake jars.” Apparently, it’s a must-have. Exactly like you’d expect, it consists of cheesecake–but in a jar. And as with everything else, it comes in a plethora of flavors for customers to enjoy.
