Wednesday night after many coastal Georgia counties went into a state of emergency and the threat of Hurricane Irma rose, Tom Kleinlein and Georgia Southern Athletics announced that Saturday’s football game against New Hampshire will be moved to Birmingham, Alabama.

“UAB and AD Mark Ingram reached out to us and offered us their facilities,” Kleinlein announced. The game will also be moved up to 3 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. and admission will be free. This will delay the team’s first home game until October 9th’s Wednesday night game against Arkansas State.

“This couldn’t have been done without the flexibility of the University of New Hampshire and our staff,” Kleinlein concluded. This is good for the Eagles as it means they will play out all 12 of their games and won’t have to match up against Power 5 teams back to back weeks.

While it is unfortunate the Eagles won’t be playing in Paulson this weekend, it is for the best interest of the Bulloch County community who will be able to evacuate.
