Multiple teams in action Labor Day weekend

For those who won’t make the trip to Auburn on Saturday, here’s a few other things going on to follow or attend this first weekend of September.

Volleyball hosts tournament

The Bash in the Boro event will be in Hanner Fieldhouse featuring North Florida, Charlotte and Bethune Cookman along with the Eagles.

GS will play its first match of the tournament on Friday at 7 p.m. against North Florida. They will take on Bethune Cookman on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Charlotte that same evening at 7 p.m.

Cross country heads north

The opening meet for the cross country team will take place at the Appalachian State Invitational in Boone, N.C. on Friday.

Senior distance runner Bailey Willett will look to build off her standout junior campaign with a strong finish to start the season.

Women’s soccer out west

Coach Brian Dunleavy and the women’s team are all the way in Pullman, Washington this weekend, where they will take on Montana Friday at 8 p.m. and Washington State on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Karinshak earned Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors after her third consecutive shutout. The Eagles are 2-1-1 heading into the Washington State Tournament.

Men’s soccer

After two 1-0 defeats to begin their season, the men’s team travels to Jacksonville Friday to play North Florida at 8 p.m.

On Labor Day evening, the No. 5 Clemson Tigers will come to Eagle Field for a 7 p.m. match. The game will be a multi-faceted athletic event, complete with free vuvuzelas, pizza and a moon bounce.
