Georgia Southern football team to wear new helmets for Military Appreciation Day

The Georgia Southern football team will celebrate Military Appreciation Day on Saturday’s game against University of New Hampshire by sporting gray matte helmets with a red, white and blue flag stripe going down the middle. The helmet will also feature the words “USA” surrounded by the flag.

Each year, the GS football team honors the men and women serving our nation’s armed forces and will continue this tradition going forward.

According to gseagles.com, “any active and veteran military personnel get in free with ID and family members get in with a $17 discounted ticket.” Tickets can be purchased on game day or at the Cowart Building starting three hours before the game.

There will be activities for children hosted by The Georgia National Guard and GS Army ROTC Eagle Battalion during the game by Gates 8 and 12, as well as a special performance by the Southern Pride Marching Band during halftime.

However, with Hurricane Irma upgraded to Category 5 and approaching the U.S., Georgia Southern administrators are closely monitoring the weather conditions in our area. If closures to campus occur, it could potentially affect game day.
