The Grammy-winning country music band, Shenandoah, is celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. One of the stops on their tour will be at the Performing Arts Center on Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

Shenandoah is famous for several hit singles such as, “Next to Me, Next to You,” “Sunday in the South,” “Two Dozen Roses,” “The Church on Cumberland Road,” and their duet with Alison Kraus, “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart,” which awarded the group a Grammy.

Performing Arts Center director, Stacie McDaniel, has been planning this opening event for the 2017-2018 season at the PAC, for a year now.

“I whittled the choices down to what I think is going to play best in this area. This is a genre of music that just plays really well here in Statesboro. Everybody is excited to see them,” McDaniel said.

Student tickets are on sale for $10, faculty and staff tickets are $22 and tickets for the public are $25. Tickets for the youth are $12. Students and faculty must buy tickets either on the phone or in person in order to receive the discount.

“We don’t get a lot of professional live music here in Statesboro so this is a great opportunity to see a fantastic music group even if you don’t know exactly what to expect,” McDaniel said.

Highlights of the upcoming season at the PAC:

There will be several more events throughout the year. The PAC will host shows like The Musical Dirty Dancing, Moscow Festival Ballet with Swan Lake, The Young Irelanders, and Mutts Gone Nuts just to name a few.
