Last Saturday, No Kings Day protests arose across the country, including one here in Statesboro.
Protesters participated in a sidewalk march from Luetta Moore Park to the Bulloch County Courthouse Grounds for a rally.
“Today is part of the nationwide No Kings protest, and really, you can find a thousand different answers for why someone’s out here today,” said Jacob Thompson, president of the Young Democrats of Bulloch County. “It really was just us giving the space for the people of Statesboro to come out and voice their frustrations.”
The rally was organized by the Young Democrats Of Bulloch County and drew in protesters of all ages. Attendees were also given a platform to share their voices during the event.
“I’m out here today because I think showing up for something like this, standing for what you believe in, is a huge feat,” said No Kings Day attendee Megan Dutton. “A lot of people don’t always see how important it is just to be there, and it shows community, it shows support, it shows that you’re not alone.”
No Kings is a non-violent movement which opposes President Donald Trump and his administration. Saturday’s protest in Statesboro was one of over 3,000 No Kings Day protests organized nationwide.
